Supporting Asthma Care

The National Asthma Council Australia is the country’s leading national asthma body. We are a not-for-profit organisation working to improve health outcomes for people with asthma.

Our Sensitive Choice® program promotes and supports good asthma care in the community.

Objectives of the Sensitive Choice® program

  1. Make Australians and New Zealanders aware of the need to manage their asthma.
  2.
Encourage manufacturers and suppliers to produce products and services that are low irritant and low allergy that may benefit people with asthma and allergies.
  3. Provide the public with a way of identifying products and services that may benefit people with asthma and/or allergies and improve health and wellbeing.
  4. Generate sponsorship funds to enable both the Australian and the New Zealand asthma organisations to continue their work in improving asthma outcomes.

How the Sponsorship Fees are used

The National Asthma Council Australia uses the sponsorship fees generated through the Sensitive Choice® program to support our important work.

Our priorities include:

  • Providing reliable information and advice for people with asthma and their families
  • Educating general practitioners and other health professionals about the latest in asthma management
  • Writing and disseminating the Australian treatment guidelines for asthma
  • Developing and advising on national health policy
  • Helping countries throughout the Asia-Pacific to improve asthma management in the region
