Home Living with Asthma & Allergy Your Guide Spring 2009 Avoiding pet allergens

Avoiding pet allergens

Avoiding pet allergens can be difficult if the source is a much-loved family member.

Ways to reduce exposure:

  • Always wash your hands after touching pets
  • Keep pets outside most or all of the time
  • Never let pets into the bedroom
  • After resettling pets outside, clean your house thoroughly
  • Ask someone else to groom pets
  • Do not wash pets more often than your vet recommends
