Our Sensitive Choice® program aims to increase community awareness and understanding about managing asthma and allergies.
The National Asthma Council Australia’s popular Sensitive Choice register of products that are potentially better choices for people with asthma and allergies has been expanded and can be accessed at www.sensitivechoice.com.au. The register now features 50 products that have been accepted by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice review panel of experts in allergy, respiratory medicine, pharmacy, general practice, industrial chemistry and consumer issues.
Only products that have a potential advantage for people with asthma or allergies are included on the Sensitive Choice register and entitled to feature the program’s prominent blue butterfly logo.
According to National Asthma Council Australia CEO, Kristine Whorlow, the Sensitive Choice program was developed in response to the many enquiries the Council receives from families and individuals wanting information about avoiding asthma triggers.
“The Sensitive Choice program was specifically developed to help these people identify companies that are committed to reducing asthma and allergy triggers,” Kristine Whorlow explained.
"Over two million Australians have asthma and 40 per cent of Australians suffer from allergies and they want good information to help them make purchasing decisions that have the potential to benefit their health and improve the quality of life. That is the aim of the Sensitive Choice program,” she said.
The growing range of Sensitive Choice products includes pillows, cleaning products, air-conditioners, vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, pool and spa chemicals, flooring, building products and personal care products.
The on-line listing of products assessed to be a Sensitive Choice for asthma and allergies is updated regularly.
Check out www.sensitivechoice.com.au for the newest additions or register at the site to receive update email alerts each time a new product is accepted into the Sensitive Choice program.
